Experimental singer-songwriter Caspar Sonnet and well seasoned improviser JeanPaul Jenkins join forces, creating a record heralding sounds from both avant-Appalachia & Japanese folk music.

"The newest experimental record on my radar is from the likes of Caspar Sonnet and Jean-Paul Jenkins. Sonnet is an LA-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has an impressive background, though it doesn’t quite paint the full picture. He has performed with YACHT, had a residency at REDCAT Studios, and performed at MOCA, but the best indication of his artistry lies in his previous releases. His eclectic songwriting influences include Native American mythology, pre-war blues, Kabuki theatre, and others. Jean-Paul Jenkins, a recently minted Angeleno, has been around the block as well, as part of groups such as Choobie and the Bubbles, The Gringo Stars, and Cexfucx. With Jenkins’ background in pleasant dissonance, improvisation, music for bikes, sound baths, fake “ethnic” music, real “folk” music, fake “jazz” music, and so much more, this collaborative release is a drone experiment I can get down to."

Caspar Sonnet (b. Los Angeles 1976) is an experimental multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter currently living in Portland, Oregon. Primarily self taught, his unusual song structures, extended techniques & haunting voice have been inspired by an array of eclectic sources, including: Native American mythology, Pre-war blues, world music & minimalist composition/orchestration.

Jean-Paul Jenkins (b. Chicago Illinois, 1973) His primary focus is improvisation and attention. Attention moves from low to high, from soft to loud, from near to far, from narrow to wide. His attention is what you follow in listening to him, it is your attention following his. His attention follows yours by being eager to play in front of you. Jenkins currently resides in Los Angeles, California
